We are seeking a talented individual to join our Legal team at MMC. This role will be based in Belgium. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

You will be a trusted strategic advisor to senior management and country leadership for Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs topics at Marsh and Mercer

You will run and coordinate Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs initiatives and projects and provide legal and compliance advice, training and support to colleagues.

We will count on you to :

• Understand applicable law and regulation and monitor regulatory developments. Anticipate emerging risks. Implement effective controls.

• Provide generalist advice in all applicable fields of the law (e.g., Corporate Law, Litigation, M&A, Data Protection, Trade Sanctions).

• Negotiate and draft various types of legal documents including contracts.

• Manage Errors & Omissions, legal and regulatory risks effectively

• Promote a culture of integrity.

• Manage and coordinate Compliance initiatives and projects with timely deployment and monitoring.

• Regularly meet with senior management to identify risks, challenges and opportunities and deliver pragmatic advice and support.

•  Respond to legal queries from Business colleagues as well as questions on application of Compliance policies and procedures.

• Interact with outside legal counsel for the Company and review outside counsel work and product.

What you need to have :

  • Seasoned professional individual contributor with a qualification to practice law

  • Works independently with minimal supervision

  • Effectively prioritizes and manages projects/processes

  • Coaches and reviews the work of more junior professionals

  • Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex

  • 8 or more years of work experience

  • Fluent in Dutch, French and English
