Legal Counsel - Marketing | London | 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Role purpose
This Legal Counsel will report into Aesop’s General Counsel and work closely with L’Oréal’s Legal Team. This is a new role that will act as Legal business partner to the Aesop Global Marketing team based in London.
Our Marketing team is responsible for both creating and commissioning all of the creative assets of the global Aesop business and this role will ensure this work is done with dedicated legal guidance and support to facilitate overall compliance and enable risk to be identified and mitigated in a timely fashion.
Role responsibilities include, but not limited to –
Legal Business Partner for the global Marketing team, with a particular focus on the Global Creative Production team who develop and manage all marketing productions in-house
Primarily providing legal support to the Marketing team which entails:
advising on general commercial / corporate matters;
reviewing, drafting and amending contracts, including commercial agreements, IP licenses, creative partnership and creative production agreements;
advising on UK IP law matters;
proactively considering legal matters at project conception stage;
coordinating multi-jurisdictional legal advice for asset development projects which are executed in London and the resulting assets are used globally; and
conducting legal training / preparing education materials on specific legal issues which arise for the Marketing team
Providing support and infrastructure for the management of Aesop’s IP rights to creative assets
Providing administrative support where appropriate to support and monitor general legal and contractual compliance
Supporting and reinforcing Aesop’s legal governance framework through creating processes and procedure for the Marketing team to follow and enhancing the team’s knowledge and understanding through training
Developing strong relationships with the Marketing and Creative teams at Aesop
Developing strong relationships and working closely with the international L'Oréal Legal network and Aesop team
This is a full time position operating with a hybrid working pattern on a 12 month fixed term contract
What we are looking for

Lawyer PQE 3 – 5 years (either in a reputable law firm or well-regarded in-house team)
Strong proficiency in contract law and IP law
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with and manage a variety of stakeholders, including creatively-minded individuals
A great communicator and relationship builder
Strong time management skills
A curious mind and love of learning both within and outside the Legal domain in an international environment
A flexible approach to scope of work
