What are we looking for?
We are looking for a Junior Lawyer to join our professional Legal, Risk and Compliance team. Reporting to the Head of Legal, Risk and Compliance and forming part of the wider Corporate Affairs Team you will provide support across a range of legal functions.
This newly created role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your legal skills in a collaborative environment while contributing to the company’s legal compliance and risk management efforts.
As a Junior Lawyer, you will work closely with key stakeholders across Procurement, Marketing, Operations, Property, Fund Management, People & Culture and Consumer facing roles. You will have the opportunity to assist in managing legal and internal processes as well as providing a pivotal role in terms of legal guidance for a variety of pillars in the business. With the support of our experienced in-house legal team and external law firms, you will play a key role in the company's legal and risk management approach, helping to shape and streamline legal operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and supplier agreements
- Performing research and analysis of legal issues in relation to governance, compliance, risk management, regulatory matters and other laws affecting our operations
- Building strong working relationships with our operations, sales, people and culture, health and safety or field teams, providing legal support, advice and solutions aligning with business goals
- Update and review key documents and agreements ensuring they meet current legislation and commercial requirements.
- Supporting the business in managing workplace matters for a large and varied workforce on employment related matters and work health and safety
- Managing dispute resolution and proposing workable solutions suitable for the business.
About you:
- Admitted to practice in NSW.
- You will have a minimum of 3 years’ PQE obtained in private practice or in-house, ideally experience in in a retail in house role is an advantage.
- You will be a strong communicator, both verbally and written, and will be confident engaging across the business.
- You will have strong legal acumen and be commercially minded and eager to develop relationships across the business.
- You demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
- A proactive, problem-solving approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
