Please note this role is a 6 months maternity cover fixed term contract and must be fluent in English and French.
Main Activities:
Your main responsibilities will include:
Providing accurate and timely legal counsel to stakeholders on a wide range of legal topics, including contractual matters, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management
Creating, reviewing, and negotiating various legal documents such as customer, vendor and partner agreements, terms & conditions and other contractual arrangements
Ensuring that all business agreements and policies are in compliance with applicable laws, protecting the company's interests, and minimizing legal risks
Managing disputes, pre-litigation, and litigation matters and developing effective strategies to resolve legal issues and protect the company's rights
Liaising with and supervising external counsel for outsourced legal matters, ensuring efficient and cost-effective legal representation when required
Providing precise legal guidance on issues that impact the organization, and collaborating with third parties, including regulators and external counsel, as needed
Offering legal expertise in matters related to regulatory compliance, data protection, intellectual property, employment law, and other relevant areas
Advising and counseling the company's senior management on the legal implications of strategic decisions and business activities
Supporting the company secretarial function in ensuring the company meets its corporate governance and regulatory requirements
Undertaking any other duties, functions, or services consistent with the role of Legal Counsel, as determined by the legal department or senior management
Key Requirements:
You have a degree in law and a professional legal qualification in a common law jurisdiction
Bi-lingual French and English at a level necessary to operate seamlessly in the business context in either language.
You have proven experience in general corporate and commercial issues working in-house or in private practice
You possess excellent legal and strategic judgment, coupled with strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills
You have an incisive grasp of legal issues, as well as a learner mindset and capability to expand your knowledge in relevant areas of law
You possess strong analytical skills, are meticulous, and are a quick learner
You are a good team player and possess a high level of integrity
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable skills:
Experience in the telecoms infrastructure or related industries
