About the Role

This newly created position of In-House Legal Counsel will provide legal advice and support to the business across a wide range of commercial issues. Partnering with stakeholders across the organisation, this position will be responsible for:

• Providing accurate and timely legal advice to Repurpose It across corporate, commercial and employment law matters, as well as regulatory compliance issues
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, and monitor the performance of these
• Providing advice on the legal implications of business decisions and proposed strategies
• Supporting the preparation and submissions of company secretarial documentation
• Overseeing the development and implementation of governance frameworks
• Developing risk mitigation strategies and report to the Board on these matters
• Developing and delivering training across the organisation on a range of legal matters

This is a full-time, ongoing position based in Epping, with travel to our sites in Montrose and Hallam sites as required.

About you

The following skills / licenses / experience are also required:

• Law Degree (LLB) and Admission to practice in Victoria
• Proven experience in a mid or top-tier firm, with a strong background in corporate / commercial law
• Knowledge of and experience in practicing employment law and regulatory compliance are desirable but not essential
• Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• A passion for sustainability and in furthering the circular economy
