About this Position
Primerica's Office of the General Counsel is seeking an experienced Marketing Attorney to support corporate and representative marketing efforts, advise on advertising compliance primarily in the US, and coordinating with Canadian counterparts as necessary to ensure consistency of legal advice across company, for all content created by Publications, IT, Product Marketing, PR, and Social Media/Communications teams.
The Attorney serves as lead for marketing-related technology deliverables, including corporate and agent websites, CRM systems and landing pages, will advise on legal and regulatory issues for advertising (including claim substantiation and viability of incentives), and will review agreements in support of various marketing and technology initiatives. Incumbent may have managerial responsibility over one or more attorney(s) and analyst(s) performing a variety of departmental functions.
This is a hybrid position that requires working onsite in the Duluth, Georgia office and remotely multiple days each week.
The estimated salary range for this position is: 120K - 130K
Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Perform legal review and substantiate claims for print, video, digital, and audio marketing content intended for internal and public use, and partner with internal product counsel and marketing teams to ensure consistent messaging across websites, social media, and more
- Participate in ongoing technology development efforts, applying marketing requirements (including FTC, FINRA, TCPA/CASL, and more) in providing programming guidance
- Provide feedback on outbound text and email communications, including any limitations and opt-in/consent and opt-out requirements
- Work closely with internal product marketing, publications, IT, legal and compliance teams, as well as with external vendors
- Manage projects effectively with a team-oriented approach
- Help develop and update procedures, templates, and policies for internal teams and sales force members
- Proactively identify opportunities for improving legal review and approval process
Required Qualifications:
- J.D. and Bar Admission to practice
- 5+ years of professional experience
- Series SIE, 6 and 26 securities registrations (or equivalents) required (or must be obtained upon hire)
- Ability to work on your own and prioritize multiple, often competing deliverables while managing expectations and meeting deadlines
- Ability to work quickly and carefully to meet aggressive turnaround times
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate effectively and gain trust and confidence with employees at many different levels
- Excellent communication skills to interact with both internal departments and external business clients while addressing complex issues in an accurate, clear, and thorough manner
Preferred Qualifications:
- Spanish-speaker preferred, with the ability to translate content from Spanish-to-English and English-to-Spanish
- Primerica experience preferred
- Experience applying regulatory requirements relating to advertising preferred
- In-house experience supporting marketing teams, and managing a legal team, is a plus
- Financial services experience a plus
