The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (“SIFMA”) seeks a well-qualified Summer Intern to support its Office of General Counsel (“OGC”). SIFMA is a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit and the leading trade association representing the U.S. capital markets. It advocates on behalf of Wall Street broker-dealers, investment banks, and asset managers before policymakers on Capitol Hill and regulators, and provides forums for legal and compliance professionals to discuss and benchmark rules, regulations, and regulatory guidance.
The selected intern will broaden their professional network and be exposed to the world of securities regulation by assisting OGC attorneys who each work on a portfolio of issues in variety of practice areas, including capital markets regulation, litigation, and banking, corporate, and tax law. Interns collaborate with OGC attorneys on comment letters to proposed rules and meetings with lawmakers and regulators. In this process, they interact with and learn from top-notch experts from SIFMA’s member firms and law firms in their respective practice areas. By undertaking legal research and writing projects, OGC interns apply their substantive legal knowledge to real world situations and develop heightened analytical reasoning skills. This is a paid summer internship.
