We are seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to join our leadership team in the Communities Division. This role focuses on managing and delivering facilities management services to councils, schools, and hospitals. With a revenue exceeding £750m, our division covers services such as cleaning, security, catering, portering, landscaping, engineering maintenance, and large-scale construction projects.

What you'll be doing...

  • Provide high-quality legal advice and guidance in complex situations.
  • Support legal and commercial issues, including contract terminations, payment issues, and disputes.
  • Review new business opportunities, negotiate contracts, and advise the board on risks and mitigations.
  • Ensure compliance with Mitie's governance and approval processes.
  • Lead the development and rollout of legal training exercises.
  • Draft correspondence for MPs, CEOs, and other significant external parties.
  • Manage external legal advisers to ensure concise and commercially appropriate advice.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships within all areas of Mitie.

About you...

You will have Professional qualification as a Solicitor with 7+ years of PQE and have a strong commercial approach coupled with excellent interpersonal skills.

A proven track record advising and influencing C-suite executives is a must as well as the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.

Desirable:

  • Experience in FM, PFI, dispute resolution, and litigation.
  • Experience in a fast-paced in-house legal function or private practice.
  • Experience with large outsourcing or commercial contract negotiations.
  • Familiar with standard form construction and engineering contracts.

Location:

We prefer candidates based within a commutable distance of Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, or London. Travel to London and within the UK may be required. Remote working arrangements are available.
