Job Description

Are you an experienced privacy lawyer who would be thrilled to use your expertise in supporting a Finnish-based technology company in its international growth journey? We are looking for a Legal Counsel, Privacy, who can take a risk based approach to ensure effective and efficient data protection compliance across different countries.

In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our global data protection programme as well as ensuring compliance with Digital Operational Reselience Act (DORA); thereby helping to maintain the integrity of the products and services we offer. You would also support either our Finnish or Swedish market unit with local contract issues. You will report directly to the Chief Legal Officer and depending on your experience you can also act as the groupwide Data Protection Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be the global champion for data privacy issues across all Epassi countries and work with the Chief Legal Officer to ensure we have effective policies for GDPR and DORA compliance
  • Complete data protection impact assessments and assist in early identification of the privacy risk in new and existing products
  • Handle personal data breaches and ICT-related incidents under DORA and ensure compliance with notification requirements
  • Update our data privacy documentation and draft and review related GDPR and ICT contracts
  • Monitor changes in data privacy and cyber security related regulations and guidance
  • Support either our Finnish or Swedish business in local language contract questions and drafting
  • Train Epassi team on data protection issues

Qualifications

  • Masters’s degree in Law from Finland or Sweden.
  • 3+ years of work experience related to data protection preferably within an international organization.
  • We also value experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. Experience with tech companies and/or payment institutions is a plus.
  • Excellent drafting skills in English and Finnish or Swedish. Other languages are considered an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-starter with a proactive and results-driven mindset; ability to thrive in a fast-pace entrepreneurial environment and take ownership.
