Amplifi Capital is one of the top 5 lenders in the near prime unsecured personal loans market in the UK. Through our innovative work we have grown our new customer volumes by 5-fold in just the last two years alone and we aim to increase that number even further as we progress.
We are a credit broker for the two largest Credit Unions in the UK and want to go beyond that. Our aim is to be the most important player in the UK personal loan market for the near prime segment through our work with the Credit Unions and via Reevo Money (our own brand). Our plans also include the introduction of a new Reevo credit card soon and in the longer term, other retail financial products

The Role:
Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, the role of Legal Counsel – Commercial [and Funding] will form part of the existing Legal and Compliance framework. The ideal candidate will have significant legal experience with a strong understanding of commercial contracts, particularly in the fintech and payments space, but also capital markets, funding, debt sale and securitisation.
The role will require the ability and desire to handle a variety of legal tasks, including corporate work and. some knowledge of data privacy and financial services regulation is desirable. The successful candidate will work closely with the other lawyer in the business, who is a consumer credit and retail financial services regulatory specialist.
Responsibilities:
- Partner, support and advise CEO, CRO, CFO, and internal funding teams and other key business functions to deliver on Amplifi’s funding ambitions and initiiatives
- Review, draft, advise on and negotiate contractual arrangements between the company and third parties, including the Credit Unions we work with
- Advise on broader regulatory requirements applicable to financial institutions
- Support the Company’s corporate governance framework and ensure appropriate governance and board engagement for smooth delivery of Amplifi’s funding activities
- Develop and refine company policies and procedures to manage and diminish legal risks effectively
- Champion and be seen as a leader of a culture of legal compliance, risk management, and ethical practice across the organisation
Requirements - UK Qualified Solicitor or equivalent qualification from a common law jurisdiction, preferably possessing between 6 to 10 years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE). However, we welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts is essential.
- A strong knowledge base in capital markets, funding, debt sales, and securitisation is required.
- A comprehensive understanding of the regulatory framework in the UK is necessary.
- Prior experience in FinTech and start-up environments is preferred.
- Candidates must be comfortable navigating ambiguity, frequent changes, and a fast-paced work culture.
- A practical and solutions-focused approach to addressing legal challenges is crucial.
- The ability to remain informed about evolving legal and regulatory developments is important.
- Proven commercial acumen and a proactive attitude towards contributing value within an in-house setting are required.
- Strong organisational and project management skills are essential, as is the ability to manage high volume tasks while balancing competing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the capacity to clearly and concisely articulate and explain complex legal issues, are necessary.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing highly accurate work are imperative.
