Job Summary
This role reports to the Chief Legal Officer and is critical in ensuring that our organization operates within legal frameworks and adheres to regulatory requirements. The Assistant General Counsel serves as a key advisor to senior management on a wide range of legal matters. In this role, the successful candidates will not only provide legal guidance but also support the overall strategic direction of the company.
Essential Functions
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents
- Provide legal advice and support to management on various matters including a variety of business matters, regulatory compliance, and contract negotiation
- Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant laws, regulations, and case law
- Manage and oversee a variety of commercial claims and dispute resolution processes
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Monitor and manage risks associated with legal and regulatory matters
- Coordinate with external legal counsel as needed
- Prepare and deliver training on legal and compliance issues to staff
Education and/or Experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law in California
- 5+ years of experience in business law or related field
- Strong background in regulatory compliance and corporate governance
- Experience in handling mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate transactions
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of corporate law, regulatory compliance, and legal research
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Proficiency in LexisNexis, or similar legal research tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
